Default Sherwood park archery club

Anyone a member here? I've heard that they have lots of good choices for shooting, but maybe not the best maintenance. Looking for opinions. Thanks.

I've been off & on. Last time was 2 yrs ago I think. Targets didn't get out till summer was half over. Not much for communication, i.e. emails or returning calls. Its close to home and I like different yardages so may try it again this year.

Where is it located? Is it out towards Tofield?
An El Niņo winter like this could provide some extended usage

Parkland Bowbenders near Villeneuve has really good outdoor courses; usually two put out from spring to fall. Check out their website.

No I don't, I am a member at Parkland and I shoot on private property close to home. I just drive by there often heading to my wife's riding barn.

Also the Sherwood Park gun range is going to be doing improvements to the 3d range and 3d walk this year, I am a member there too.

Spac has a great 3D course. One weekend there was about 60 targets out. Took me 2 hrs to walk it all

I have a question for anyone who has used SPAC's indoor range. What are the shooting lanes like in terms of size? Asking because I went to another range and the shooting lanes were probably 3ft or so wide and they had 2 shooters in each lane. Being new to archery I did not feel comfortable with only 4 or 5 inches between the person in front or behind me while shooting a bow.

When shooting indoor on a line, it is common to have not much space. I forget the the actual "regulated" lane size but it is likely 3ft or less. If the lanes are busy that particular day then the line might be full and space limited.

Here is a typical line while shooting in Vegas.

If that made you squeamish...

40+ target butts with 2 people per butt, 2 lines top and bottom. Takes 2 hours to shoot 30 arrows.

There are 4 shooting areas going at the same time to get +3200 archers through 3 rounds in three days.

SPFGA ... You can purchase a General Membership to the club which permits the use of all facilities except the firearms Ranges. So, you can use the Archery Range. I think about $13,000.00 has been invested in new 3D targets for the Trail Walk the year ... and the Archery Chair will be organizing a work detail.
Note: There is no cap on General Memberships.

260 Rem, I'm a member at spfga as well. The bow area is my most prized getaway. If you need help or know the archery chair I work shift work and am always willing to lend a hand. Truly great facility.

Hubby is new Archery Director for Sherwood Park Fish & Game. Yes, Rinehart targets have been ordered and new lanes for 3D course have been roughly laid out. Plans are to hold first archery shoot in fifteen years some time in May this year! If you are a SPFG member and interested in helping with the yet to be dated work party, please pm us and let us know. Would like to get to know those members interested in archery.

We've had a family membership at SPAC for a number of years and found that the club is great. The club has recently leased a building on the old Al Oeming game farm for indoor shooting 24/7 and the outdoor facility has tons of room and is also open to all members 7 days a week. Like any club it has issues with volunteers and some of the maintenance does not happen although targets on the 3D courses and on the range have always been set up every year in spring since we have been members.

The club is volunteer run, but does operate a full outdoor field, 3d course, and 24 hour indoor range.
