Question Any Hoyt experts? Draw length question

So I bought myself a Hoyt Nitrum 34. It came with a Z5 2# cam, and I've currently got it set at 28 inches of draw length, however I really need to go up to around 28.5 - 29. Do I need a whole new module just to extend the draw length 0.5 - 1 inch?

The tune chart says the 2# cam can go from 27 - 9, but it doesn't say whether I need a whole new module or not.

Help much appreciated!

As long as your cam is correct for your draw length range then you will only need to buy new modules. You have the change modules and then change draw stops. Hope this helps.

So I have to buy a whole new module to move up 0.5 of an inch? Where is the sense in that!

How much do they normally cost?

I don't think they are overly expensive. It's not like buying a whole new cam. Would have to call a pro shop.

Modules are like $25, and a lot of shops will just exchange them.

I see you are in Calgary. Go to Jimbows and they will size you for the correct module and have you on your way in minutes.

Hopefully I can just exchange mine.

Why do Hoyt make their bows like this? Awesome bows, but a whole new module for every change in draw length seems a little excessive. Mybe a new mod for every few inches ect

The new DFX cams have rotating mods with a 2 or so inch range depending on the bow.

At least it's not a prime where you have to change the cams for every half inch of draw length, lol.

Prime are out of their mind.

Did Matthews not do something similar at one point?

I'm not too sure about mathews and mods. I have never found them desirable (personal choice!) So I haven't paid too much attention to what they do. I try the new ones out every year just because, but honestly, they need to really come up with something. From what I hear they didnt do it for 2017 again.

Yup new cams needed. Google z5 cams shows the cam lengths.

My older Mathew bow needs a new module for 1/2 inch of draw. From what i have found the reason for multiple modules is for increased efficiency. If you are at the bottom of the module size the bow is less efficient then at or near top.

Therefore if you can take your current module up to a 29 inch draw you will be operating at max efficient and get the most from your bow.

If you Google nitrum 34 tune chart and look at the #2 cam you will see it goes from 27" to 29". Only a mod change is required.

If it was a Nitrum 30 then the #2 would only go to 28".

You might need a module, not really familiar with that cam. But you could also probably play with cable length a bit or put a slightly longer d-loop.
