Pigeon Lake report
Well, dock was in last weekend. Went out last two weekends, and have been fishing there for many years, but have never seen it as slow as this year. From the looks of everyone else, we weren't the only ones. Filled our B tags---not very fat--but very healthy. Any idea why the action is so slow? Usually early on is the best action.

The fly hatch usually coincides with slower fishing.

Our family is heading to Pigeon Lake next weekend. Provincial Park Campground site booked. Bringing the Lund Tyee and a bunch of tags. Are there docks and is moorage available or do people just pull up on to the beach/shore at the end of the day? Thanks.

Have to bring them in , every time you come out ,even for lunch.
Only has a small dock, that is used for loading and unloading.
you get the odd guy that will tie up his boat up ,and it screws every one up.

Pigeon is far from slow right now. Caught 60 our last trip. Very aggressive. Big and small. Great day on the water.

The walleye bite is good but is anyone catching whitefish on Pigeon? I think they are getting fewer and further between but I'm still chasing them.
Trying to decide where to go tomorrow on the kayak.

Nope!
Even my self deprecation knows bounds
Last time I tried was early last June. Tried my winter hooks out. Got looks for sure according to the finder but skunked. Maybe try this fall when they are active. Did a look in the fall about 3 years ago like I do on Sylvan. Did not sight one white in the shallows and traveled a huge percentage of the shoreline. Just not a strong whitefish lake and the population seems to be on the decline.

Walleye bite was crazy good yesterday. Tough part was the six million people at the Provincial Park trying to launch. Oh well, it was a beauty day on the water. Just need my tags to show up in the mail.

Pigeon is not slow at all. I've been out almost every 5-7 days since opening weekend and have never had a bad day. In fact, I was out last Sunday on June 14... and in the space of 4 hrs, my 16yo son out fished me 25-23. All good size fish... and about 6 or 7 very good sized pike (thin though). That many pike in that area was surprising.
Locations: Vast majority were caught off Silver Beach point... with jigs. Pike were on the cast. We also headed to south end of lake, to the Rock Island to check it out. Caught nothing there, but then headed direct east of island toward shore. Found some rocky bottom at about 10-12ft. deep... and caught more pike off the cast.
I tend to stick in the Mulhurst Bay Area. I also have success casting/trolling at western point of the bay, at end of Argentia Beach. Theres some good weed and reed beds there. Plus a drop off where I've caught good pike there.
A final point. There also is a hump in the middle of the bay. If you can get onto it (it's small so only 3-4 boats in close proximity jigging can fit) you should have have success targeting eyes. Water vis is till good right now...
Hate to give away all my spots... but happy to help.
Good luck!

Spent the day out in front of the provincial launch today. Fishing was slow.....5 people fishing landed 6 in four hours. only 1 keeper in the slot size the rest were over 50 cm. 30 boats out there and nobody seamed to be catching much. Beautiful sunny day though.

It always amazes me that so many people jam into 1 area when there is fantastic fishing in alot of other places out there.I understand for people in small boats dont want to venture out too far but thats usually not the norm.

Not the news I was hoping for, but I'm a sucker for punishment. I'll let you know if I have any luck. I agree that their numbers seem to be declining in recent years but hopefully they are just down, not out.
Also, I picked up your now famous 2" twister tails and 1/16oz jig heads. Here fishy-fishy.
*Edit: Sorry, those are Zip's famous twister tails*

A hump in the middle of the bay, you say? Mission accepted. Thanks for the tip JB!

Maybe 50 yards to the north west of this hump should be the bottom half of my hand ice auger. I didn't realize the pin had popped out until I broke through and down she went. PM me if you pull this in somehow.
