Default Boosting Confidence

Load development is sometimes frustrating when groups are not shrinking ... which can result in self doubt as it relates to hold. When this happens, I fall back to shooting a few groups with a known shooter.

Wowsers, that is some good shooting.

Curious: Is this a sporter contour or BR rig? Stock or custom?

I shot a 1.5 inch group is variable wind at 200 yards yesterday and felt pretty good about myself.

Its a “sporter” style stock holding a Barnard action with a Kreiger light Palma contour barrel. Years ago I bought a couple of Sako take-off stocks to use on builds ... because I prefer the look of wood to composite.
I was getting a bit frustrated searching out the sweet spot for a 6.5 SLR and needed some confirmation that the shooter wasn’t the problem, hence the confidence booster. I was quite pleased with the 1/4” group as I don’t get many with sporter style stocks. It requires paying close attention to resetting the gun in the bags after every shot.

The joys of load work up. I had a similar issue with 300Wby Mag this spring. A friend had pulled some Berger VLDs and left 6 on my bench. So I got a seating depth and loaded them up. # at 3.860 and 3 at 3.760 both will make my Sako a single shot. Went and tried them the 3.860 went into a .344 inch group. The 3.760 went 1.56. At least now I know my Sako just does not like the Hornady 212 ELDX bullets as I had thought.

Great shooting Rem 260 groups like that always bring a smile to ones face.
