I prefer a lighter monometal bullet for elk and moose, the 140TTSX has been penetrating better than the 175 Partition , that a friend used to use. He since switched over to the 140 TTSX as well.

This ^^ Moderate Velocity , bigger holes, quicker kills and less meat damage .

I’m not sure moderate velocities equals quicker kills.

Not at all, the larger the wound channel volume, the quicker the animal bleeds out, and that doesn't always result from moderate velocity.

It does if a well selected bullet in a larger calibre is used. I cant see the point of using a deep penetrating projectile at hyper terminal velocity unless you plan on a lot of unecessary meat damage. I find that a muzzle velocity of 2600-2800fps is more than enough to get the job done in the vast majority of cases, at moderate hunting ranges. At least, that is my experience.

I'm just stubborn. Once in a while I think I should try something different but I've been flinging a 180gr partition for so many years it's easier to count those years in decades. One day maybe I'll get to weigh a bullet to see what the retention was, but so far I honestly can't remember ever recovering one yet.
I have pulled a 160 grain out of an elk shot out of a 7mm though. Never weighed it
One day I may take a walk on the wildside and try an accubond....

If it works why change?
I have been told I should try the new Hammer bullets in.311, but why?
My 150 grain TSX's work great!

And I prefer a lighter monometal bullet moving at high velocity, to improve expansion, and still penetrate more than a slower moving cup and core bullet. And the extra 500-700fps or so means less wind drift. This combination has worked for me for over 20 years.

I had a brick of 140gr Partitions that shot sub 1/2 moa in my 7mmstw, and I used that until I ran out. The next lot shot over moa, so I tried the monometal bullets, and am still using them.

I shot Nosler Partition for years the only bullet I ever recovered was from a moose 8mm 200gr. all that was left was the bottom the top half was gone, the moose was dead the bullet did it's job.
I tried the copper bullets this year for the first time and was impressed I predict in the future lead projectiles will be eliminated for environmental reasons.
