6 goals on 21....so now they send Rittich in. Beauty. Maybe we could give Smith away. Or pay someone to...make him go away. Jesus what a performance.

How can you have a coach, presumably paying him millions/year, and with his brilliant hockey mind, with the following stats:

Smith: GP 6, W 3, SA% 0.870, GAA 3.43; and,
Rittich: GP 3, W 3, SA% 0.950, GAA 1.83

comes to the conclusions that Smith deserves twice as many starts as Rittich? The last time Smith was decent was almost a year ago, why the persistence when he is obviously struggling mightily. Its not like they guy is Kipper and played here a decade, pulled the team to the cup final, etc. He has played 61 games as a Flame.

It took me 30 seconds to write that and its no longer current, as Smith let another one in.

Secondly, why does he leave him in till the opposition has scored 6?!? Really, pulling him and letting Rittich play is going to sway the momentum and they are going to win the game 7-6.

Is it the "goalie position" that is killing us or Peters persistence to play the goalie with a SA% hovering around 0.800% when the guys sitting on the bench is around 0.950%. I have seen absolutely nothing from Rittich to indicate he isn't ready and everything from Smith indicating he's done.

I couldn't give a rip about toughness and neither does anyone else, we need a coach with a brain and a team with a bit of passion and as Rig-Rat said, defence. Offense, we have one of the highest scoring teams in the league.

It's all of the above, why he waits till we are down 6 before making a move? He may as well just leave him in there, as clearly we have conceded the game. If he expects the offense to score 7+ every game in order to get a possible win, he's a worse coach than I figured. At this point I am willing to trade the farm for a proven goalie. Johnny, Gio both, whatever.

NHL hasn't gotten that soft yet. Need more than just Hamonic.
Ah yes, the flaming offense.....

How about that? What a complete windstorm of thrown feces....Peters needs a punch in the neck, and Smith needs a handshake and a bus ticket to Stockton. Or Brockett.

I called it before the season started, Smith is a dog, lead anchor, dud, pylon, mediocre old guy.

Curious how long it took you to think up the clever entendre.

Anyway, shots 38-35 Flames, and as you knew befoere posting it's 8-0. Now quickly with a clever riposte...oh wait, Neal scored. 8-1

Go back to beginning of thread, I was questioning Smith before season started. I don't remember planning a parade either. I certainly appreciate your insight.

Twisted.. Sorry, looked like you were all on your own tonight. Fortunately, I was coaching football and missed a nightmare of epic proportions.

How bad was Smith?

Well at least your next game should be easy, I mean the Oilers just beat them 4-1. Smith should have stellar night.

Man did we ever get a paddlin'.
Smith simply can't be considered out starting goalie.
And I still hate Brodie.

I didn't even watch the game, I had a bad feeling this would happen (I didn't think they would get their ass kicked this bad though).

The last few games leading up to this was evidence that we were going to get destroyed. You can't play like that against the Pens, they'll kill you.

It is so frustrating because after the game everyone's response is "gotta have a short memory.. gotta have a short memory". No you don't, you *******es! Remember what you morons are doing wrong and change it, not come out the next game and do the exact same thing, and then again, and then again.

After the game Smith talked about the fans: "I'd be booing us too. They have the right to voice their opinion and, to be honest, if I was a fan, I'd be upset also." BUT you not a fan, your the GD goalie. Get in front of the puck you big lanky F***.

16 hits, 21 missed shots, the list goes on...

What to work on today at practice? the powerplay stinks, penalty kill needs help, goaltending needs a miracle (they should have left Smith in, Rittich wasn't about to come in and save the game being down 6-0 or 5-0 or whatever it was when he came in). Defense sucks.

They have today and then play Washington tomorrow. They are going to get their ass handed to them again.

Monahan's grandpa turned 98 yesterday, it was nice of him to let his gramps play in the game.

Nice to see Gio completely give up on the last goal.

Read it and weep. To all those that stood up for and defended Smith at the beginning of the season....you were dead wrong. Give him a bus ticket to Prince George, the Cougars are looking for a stick boy. An. 866% and 4.10 GA per game isn't cutting it quite. Bring up any goalie from Stockton....

I was definitely willing to give him a chance but lets face current facts, he hasn't played well since January and is getting seriously outplayed by Rittich. When is the "sample size" big enough, 10 games, 20 games, 30 games? The way they are attached to this guy, you'd think he's played for the Flames for 12 years and won three cups.

"You don’t evaluate the goaltending in a game like this," said Peters, whose club was outshot 39-36.

Yea, he's amazing, lets just evaluate him on the Nashville game and give him 65 starts ya I haven't seen idioticy like this since the Browerplay.
