Default First whitetail with Trad gear.

Well, after a decade of hunting exclusively with a trad bow in bow season. I finally harvested a whitetail with the recurve bow. The night before I had missed a shot at a 4x4 whitetail buck at 20 yards. Could hardly lift my bow or draw. Discouraged and kicking myself I decided to sit at the same spot last night. 15 minutes to last light I stood up and turned around and a whitetail doe was staring at me. I slowly went back down to a kneeling position and after a few minutes she still decided to walk past me at 22 yards and stopped to stare at me broadside. I drew, breathed out, released. The arrow was a complete passthrough and she dropped 50 yards away after jumping a fence in the pasture.
Every year I spend 3 full weeks bowhunting and as discouraging as it feels and the want to pick up a compound again or head to a WMU where rifle is open. It sure is satisfying to finally achieve a traditional archery harvest.

Congratulations, hunting with tradtional gear is difficult but the success is much more gratifying, at least it is for me.

Default Stoked!!!

Well done and congratulations. All the frustrations, misses, blown stalks, practice, dreaming and opportunities you could have with other tackle are worth it! My wife calls my trad bows the starvation sticks... but that's not the case in your house. A true milestone and something to remember.

Congratulations on your harvest on truly hunting "the hard way". I almost exclusively hunt trad, so understand the hardship...and the fulfillment!!
