Probably nothing shady though.....

UCP’s pre covid deficit is larger than that of the NDP’s.

Conservative fiscal responsibility is the biggest BS myth around.
Stelmach and Redford were not fiscal conservatives.

Need an apples to apples comparison. Redford and Stelmach were more NDP than conservative... Redford was selfish with her lavish office plans.

Not so sure about that, We were at Abraham lake in the July long weekend, to me that was just disgusting, a small city in the bush blaring generators, quads, drunken idiots.
No thanks.
Fish lake was super quiet.

I’m sorry you had that experience. Abraham Lake is a nice scenic area. I enjoy that area. It’s very easily accessible though.

Unsure if this should update this thread or go in the politics superthread.

The pandemic is allowing a lot of Albertans to discover their own province. So this is an economic development and diversification issue as their money can now help support a lot of smaller communities around the province as long as there are places to go.

Interesting that back in the 1960s, pre-oilsands, when Alberta was relatively undeveloped we could afford picnic shelters all over the place.

This whole thread should probably be closed and the discussion continued in the politics thread.

Title and alt-link from your link:
Alberta said it was removing 'underutilized' parks from its system. This data suggests otherwise
Province wouldn't provide info to CBC News but another group obtained it through FOIP

The facts in that article sure makes it sound like there are some hidden agendas at play.

It is not a co-incidence that the '76 coal development policy is rescinded just after the parks elimination is announced.

This will be a huge net loss for outdoors people, and especially for many wildlife species. Some people will gain prosperity.

It has been on the books for decades that wmu 402 upper Oldman/Livingstone is to be a resource extraction area with minimal environmental protection. This is why the timber has been allowed to be cut at such a fast rate. Now on to mining coal.

How else can we afford to continue to spend tens of billions on our foreign vacations and imported luxuries?

Wait Kinbrook Island is on there?? Where my Brooks folks at, every single time I've been there...which is half a dozen times randomly through the summers...its been packed. This is insane. I'll admit if you're trying to book a campsite on Friday morning in southern Alberta Kinbrook might be the only one that has spots left, but it's far from "under utilized."

Just lies, lies, lies. United Conman Party has gotta go.

I’m not singling you out on this but if wish to enjoy your crown land you really need to pay attention to this. As WB said previously, the crown lands are going to be pilfered extremely hard in the next several years. First by logging, then oil and gas along with coal mines. They’re already working on Cabin Ridge in the Oldman region. Every outdoors person needs to bang the drum on this.
