Problem is, I gave up the firewater about 25 years ago when I realized I was losing track of 24hr periods of my life

Default Bias

I have served my country for a long period of time. I have recently retired from the military and I begin to wonder if any of the sacrifices of our soldiers are even valued. When the common man cannot see the truth through the twisted noise of a corrupt or misguided media what is the point of even speaking truth. While I am in no way an advocate of extreme measures; unless you are the wealthy or the misguided, I see less and less options for clear unvarnished truth anywhere in our media or politics. When a citizen of a country whose common law is founded on Christian values has to check in with the politically correct to ensure he is allowed to be heard I am indeed troubled.

Default private enterprise is better

I started this thread so I am going take the privilege of whining about the ills of Socialism.
Some of the things we need elected officals for is to manage building community infrastructure, legal system, and all kinds of inspectors to keep everyone honest.
I consider a Govt.to be labled Socialist if it trys to produce or supply goods and sevices including care of the poor or wealth redistribution, which is done much better by the private sector. There is no record of Socialist Govt. being successful over the long haul at growing wheat or any other business. The present Govt. management of this wealth redistribution is a few elected officals with limited ideas on how to provide health care, care of the poor or distribute the huge amount of tax wealth that they collect. A great deal of this tax money is taken up by various Govt. empoyees before a small percentage actually gets to the poor and people wait in line for health care.
The redistribution of wealth can be done much better if it is managed locally by the people that made the money in the first place. The people that made the money in the first place can be an abundant source of good ideas of how to take care of the poor or make life better for their neighbors.
When a man has the talent and makes the effort to grab whatever wealth he can accumulate he should be able to use that wealth for his good and the good of his fellowmen according to his best judgement. Govt. should dictate what percentage society expects him to share and also regulate or approve what he spends this share on. One way to get the redistrbution of wealth done is for the wealthy man to take on as many dependants from among the less fortunate as he can afford.
How long will we stumble on with our Canadian type of welfare state. Maybe until we run out of others peoples money and start over again. This running out of other peoples money has been done by Socialist states in many countries in the past.

Shows how week our democracy really is and how little we value our freedom. Its amazing that everyone is content with our collective tax dollars paying for this "news organization". Sad.....

I don't think anyone is happy about the CBC on AO. However, what do you propose we do to show our discontent? Bombs? Anthrax?

Life is too short if you get wound up tight over stuff over which you have no control.

So... just let everything slide?

If it weren't for people getting wound up tight over stuff we wouldn't have half the freedom we do today.

Have you written a letter to your MP over the CBC?

Written a letter to the Editor of any publication to voice your displeasure?

Have you started or even signed a petition?

Demonstrated?

Doubt it, but if you have, maybe you should share details with us. If not, carry on.

For most normal people, the CBC is far from the most pressing issue in our country.

I will just continue to vote for a federal party which at least espouses fiscal sanity, not that any of them really mean to do anything about it.

What is your point here? I need to be doing one of the above to have the right to disagree with the issue at hand?

No, my point is that unless you care enough to pick up a pen or a phone, you don't really care enough to whine, or question anyone who frankly couldn't care much. Carry on as normal.
