Default Suggestions on a media player to purchase

Does anyone have any suggestions or advice on a what make/model of a media player that is reasonably priced that I can connect to a tv and play different types of video and audio files from an external hard drive or USB stick? I have a Samsung smart tv that has this option built in but I am looking for a small external device that will do the same thing on a different tv that is not smart! LOL!! Any help would be appreciated.

I will not have internet access or streaming capabilities where I plan on using it, just want to play files off of a USB stick or external hard drive so either of the 2 you suggested can do this? I am technologically challenged! Haha

Default Wdtv

I have had a WDTV for several years. Originally bought it for the early days of Netflix but don't watch Netflix any more so I have put it in the trailer. I just put tunes and movies on a USB stick plug it in and watch or listen to whatever you wish. Small and portable too so doesn't take up any room.

I also picked one up for my FIL off Kijiji a year or so ago for 20 bucks so have a look there too as many buy these things then never use them and sell them off on the cheap.
