Default How about them Oilers; 1st place overall!

It's been some time since Oiler fans have seen this. Who knows if they can keep it up, but man, one has to say, what a start, even if there were some lucky bounces.

http://www.nhl.com/stats/team?aggreg...rt=wins,points

Better yet, McDavid is the top point getter, and Talbot has the most wins and shutouts. I know, it's only 6 games in, but this is better than any time since what... 1984 or so?

I did not expect a start like this but I'll take it! Gotta get as many points as possible early in the year because from January on they get a whole lot tougher.
I think the scoring depth is saving our behinds right now. Also nice to see talbots confidence back from the shaky first couple of games.

This has been very enjoyable, however it just seems like something bad is gonna happen soon to rocket us back to reality. I hope not.

If things are still looking good by December, I'll be getting very excited. Until then, I'm cautiously optimistic.

Two more games. Completed 10% of season. I will reserve my thoughts, until 20 games played. Oilers are scoring goals, Oilers need to tighten up goals against.

I'm leary about getting too excited about their best start in decades also but what I am excited about is the Shames being in 29th with a very shaky 1 point keeping them out of last place.

Gleaning good picks by sucking for half a decade earns the Oilers zero respect in my books.

Being a Habs fan, last season was in a similar spot, looking good all the way up until January. It's a long season, but it's nice to be moving along in a positive direction.

Oh if only it was just half a decade.

Yep the Oilers were a bad team for for a long time. Lots of mistakes by management to get them there.
I will say that even though they've been my favorite team since they joined the league I will respect that in the hunt for Connor they didn't roll over and quit like the leafs or Sabres did. I thought they played themselves out of any chance at getting him.
Earned them a lot of respect across the league for it. I'm sure they'll lose sleep over losing your respect though.
Enjoy the basement we left it just the way you like it.

It'll be interesting to see if the Oilers will finally be rewarded by their concerted indolence.

It was like poker. Kept folding until they got good hand. Strategic but kinda pathetic.

How prophetic
They sucked, now they don't suck as much.

Ok
Thinks I am done with this now.
Not a welfare recipient, typical hard working Albertan.
Just an Oilers fan is all.
Hated the Flames for years but as my location gives it away I cheer for both now.

Sorry for being harsh. Didn't mean to pop any bubbles but seeing Oilers fans rubbing it in so soon after getting their chemistry right is a little galling.

Admittedly, it must be nice to finally be able to brag a bit again. It's been a long time coming.

No worries, just nice to have a reason to watch them again. Usually am losing interest at this point and they seem too have a bit of winning attitude for a change.
Anyone bragging at this point is a fool IMHO
I hope for a battle of AB again.

When the team chose to have a practice on their mandatory day off, that is when I figured they turned the corner. I can't imagine that happening in the past decade or so.

As a long suffering Oiler fan I'm diggin this. But I am also cautiously optimistic but it looks like they have FINALLY turned the corner. I think looch was the missing piece, leadership on and off the ice and he won't put up them taking the night off or thinking loosing is ok. This whole organization was so fundamentally broken front to back top to bottom from K-low that 5 McDavid's wouldn't of made a difference. When they signed Charelli that was the organizations TSN turning point. Still not using the "P" word, let's see where we are in the new year & go from there. We have seen this movie to many times before to get overly excited just yet but I'm sure lovin what we are seeing so far. #GO-OILERS!!!

Wouldn't it be fun to watch that battle for first all year!!

I'm too much of a realist to even consider it but it's nice to see the potential there when everyone is healthy.
