Tall guy with short draw length???
Hey guys,
When shooting compound, I have a draw of 29 inches and it works great. However, when I shoot traditional with either my recurve or longbow, I only draw 26? That is, drawing to the corner of my mouth with good upright posture.
I have shot traditional way before compound, but only actually measured my drawlength recently as I found a measuring arrow at the club.
Does anyone else find that really weird? If I try to draw traditional with a 29 inch draw length, I end up pulling behind my ear.

Measure the Compound draw with an arrow the same way you measure traditional. Because it has a 29" module doesn't guarantee it is being actualy drawn 29" .
A 1 or 2" diference is quite common, but 3" is a lot. Something not normal about a 3" diference.

I shall so that when I get my bow back.
Still strange for a 6 foot guy to have a 26 inch draw length though. Maybe it is because I have quite narrow shoulders and fairly short arms. I'm tall as I have a really long torso.
When I stand, my arms don't fall perfectly straight down my side, but at a bit of an angle pointing outwards.
Shoulders could do with more width, I guess.

How tall are you and what do you draw traditional.
But yeah, I'm tall only because of a really long torso. Narrow shoulders and short arms.

Yeah I find it reall strange why I draw so short. Must just have short arms then.
Wish I could add a bit of length to them and some more width to my shoulders haha

I see a lot of guys that are way overbowed, and think / say they are drawing to the corner of the mouth, but when you stand beside them they are short drawing 4 to 5". But they can say they are shooting a 70# Traditional bow.

Not weird
There is no similarity to where I anchor a trad bow and a compound bow. Corner of mouth with trad and underneath my ear in the notch behind the jaw with compound. That makes up a 1-2 inch difference for sure. I suspect that is the same for most people.

Not word at all as Pete mentioned.
It had to do with the way a compound Bo stacks , among other things .
After my wreck I went from 28" on my draw down to 26" with my Long bows.

Chance that maybe the compound is even slightly long draw for you...as Pete mentioned many models of different brands dont draw as sticker/cam states and that a 29" may even be longer..some close to 30"
Most compound models if draw is different than stated...draw longer...
I have some 6 ft tall shooters shooting 28"
