Best dry flies during summer (*species of trout, whitefish?)
What's the best dries for summer during the summer in lakes (or creeks). The ones that served me the best in lakes were Stimulators (I'm sure an EHC work) and mosquitoes. I'm to lazy to dig around and ''match the hatch'' but what flies have been good for everyone this summer? Also feel free to tell me some nymphs or wets too if you want. I'm sure there's something good hiding in my box but I'm not sure if I know when to use it. I've had fish swim right pass my fly once without looking(that time they were feeding on the surface),except the dries mentioned above.

Best thing for you to do is look up a general chart for the year and have those flies. If you're not gonna match the hatch that will be the next best thing. Me personally I don't have a fly I use every time. Some are more consistent than others but if you only stick to a couple flies you will miss out on fish. I tie mine according to what nature is doing. If I don't have a fly that matches what they are eating I go home and tie it.

I've found a stimulator dropper to a copper John or prince nymph working good
Using general flys like copper johns or hares ear nymphs work good for triggering fish to bite

Hoppers are working great right now with a bh nymph or prince hanging about 2 feet off the hopper hook on the edges of the bank

Always gotta have some extended body paradrakes. Usually deadly if there's been a hatch recently. This time of year I find my little tinsel bh nymphs make good droppers

Would a Dave's Hopper #8 work for trout? I tend to fish in the mountains. Unfortunately, I'm out of stimulators (lost in those wretched trees ) , so I went digging in my box and found a dave's hopper.

Matching the hatch takes about 2 minutes. Flip over a rock. Look. Shake a bush. Look. Walk along the shore/bank for 10m. Look. When a fish rises, take a good look at the water. Match size and colour. Actually, I bet it could all be done in 1 minute
You do not even need to know entomology to vastly improve the quality of your fishing.

I also heard that you could find out what they're eating with a throat pump. Where can you find one? Also would #8 Hopper be to big for fish at least 6~8'' I'll be fishing for?

not a big fan of throat pumps.... pretty invasive if you ask me. I usually start out with an attractor pattern and if I'm not getting anything I'll match the hatch.
your #8 hopper will get hits, but it may be difficult to hook fish. try some ants on those little creeks, or a smaller foam hopper.

Same here kind of takes the fun out of the challenege
But one thing everyone should know make sure the fish is at least 11" before you throat pump it

just got a question about terrestrials and if bee patterns (I found some buried in my box) or any other less famous terrestrial patterns would work

Try using an Adams. Change the body color to match the color of the flies that are hatching. My best body colors are Tan, light grey, dark grey, orange, dark brown, yellow size 12, 14, 16.
