Pretty tough in Comox. You might want to go north to Campbell River or Browns Bay. Did you post an ad on Kijiji?

There used to be a outfit on the island called salmonboats.ca
(I think) that rented 21 foot North Rivers, but I couldn't find their site anymore. Maybe they have shut down ?.
Comox is a beautiful area and you can get awesome weather in March ( but bear in mind you could also be wet for 14 days). Either way it will be green, the crocuses will be up, skiing will be great at Mount Washington and crab and shrimp will be waiting for your traps

I don't think Bates Beach is renting in March but you never know!
Lots of kayak rentals if you are into that. Personally I prefer fishing near Campbell River. Apparently the hump has finally gotten to be a productive area again. It used to be a waste of money and gas.
