The Hall, Nugent-Hopkins, Eberle line did quite well playing against the opposition's top D and best forwards every night. I can't help but imagine what they would do as a number 2 line behind Lucic, McDavid and Maroon. I am thinking the most potent 1-2 punch in hockey followed by a number three line centered by Draisaitl who is just starting to develop as a top 6 forward on any team.
But a person doesn't know the whole story. There may have been some personality conflict but it did not seem evident on the ice. It wasn't like they were going to have to strip Hall of the captain C as he never had it and there is never enough A to go around on a truly great team.
Larson looks okay so far but he is no Shea Weber or Chris Pronger. One would think there is a lot of good D men that would like to sign for the Oilers now and the up and comers are looking good.
Hopefully Larson emerges as a top 2 D man as Hall is certainly one of the best wingers in the league and he seemed to love Edmonton.
It is great to watch them play regardless. It has been far too long since I could plan to spend an evening watching hockey without channel surfing by the end of the first period.
