Getty ready for bonefishing
Getting ready for the big trip to the Bahamas, South Andros on the 1st. Tied up some flies for the flats. Other than wishing a had more beige and sand colors, I made do.
Also, I was pretty heavily impaired by rum....but hey, that is fly tying

I'll bring a few more streamers that look likely to catch something. Otherwise they have a fly shop at the lodge.

When you state "Good looking fly", do you consider them to be "regal" also?

Just tie a dozen Gotchas in #4 and # 6, tan wing,,, Put some lead eyes on few #4s with medium and small bead chain eyes on the rest. You can add a couple sillilegs to the wing (pumpkin or motor oil works best for me) on a few. Keep the flash to 6 - 12 strands in the wing, in other words don't over do it.
Trust me, if you ask your guide to pick a fly from your box, it will be a gotcha he grabs,,, the only question will be what size of eyes?
If you want a variety of flies, google up coco loco and have a half dozen of those as well.

I had my best luck and caught the biggest bones on the squimp fly. Good permit fly as well. Easy to tie

Hard to go wrong with a few coco locos easy to up a bunch in a hurry.....

I bought it at an auction for next to nothing. All I had before that was a static, cheap vice.

No, they are "2 rum ties". Best I could do after drinking 2 glasses of rum....hic!

The rum comment brought a memory from the past---The black doctor was the salmon fly of choice, On the Terra Nova river central nfld.I tied up several,when I arrived home early from a party--I was invited to leave.Wayyyy over tied, you might say a mess, the newfie salmon,didnt care I caught several large salmon --The fish will decide.

Tied up some gotchas tonight. Pretty pleased overall. Two versions, one tied with floss body and the other a kind of sand yarn.

If I get the chance, I'll tie up that crab. It will be in regular deer or elk hair but I can borrow the wife's coloring felts to color the tips. I'll keep a couple natural as well.
