Wes hit the nail on the head here. Driving on in April is a stupid move. If they are driving on areas that have current in April well then we have a real winner here.

Maybe they thought that since its a reservoir that it doesn't have current. Or maybe they just are inexperienced with ice fishing and ice conditions.

pity about their vehicle but glad to here they got out saftely. don't know why so many of you posters seem to get some satisfaction from their misfortune. i'm sure they just wanted to have a nice day on the ice. chit happens even in feb.

again ! we walked out a couple of years ago and all you could see was the tailight of a ford that went through by the launch . I called it in to the rcmp

i remember years ago a story in the journal about a towing co. having to send 2nd tow truck out to pull first one out at lake eden that broke through attempting to pull car out.

Sigh....I am hoping I could see open water in the future. Heck -10 with the wind and snow here in Manitoba. We still have about 3'-4' of ice on our lakes.

Thickness of ice means nothing at this time of year when it can be the consistency of a slurpee.

Years ago during the derby, flatbed tow truck towing the the same towing out the Motorhome.
