Just thought i would share a few pics of a nice Walleye I pulled out of the NSR near Devon last year, I don't know how long or how much it weighed but it hit my line like a rocket and put up a great fight. One of the biggest i have caught yet to date.... i caught a few more that day but all smaller than this by far.

I'm after a few more of these NSR monsters.

It's a great fishery no mater where you fish it. All these fish were caught on plastics actually, my bud did have some luck on a pickeral rig but no hogs. On wednesday I did land a few fish on a pickeral rig with dew worms but for the most part minnows have been the ticket if lazy man fishing is your style. The issue with the pickeral rig with worms is that ther are too many suckers and lil burbots and a bag of worms doesn't go very far. Plus debris flowing in to the line is a hassel this time of year.

I agree with plastics, though Yellow and Red Five of Diamonds and the old Red Devil still do well too! Last year we caught a few nice Browns fishing for the eyes in the same holes

Nice! A month ago I had never even caught a brown but I went down to the bow a few weeks back and got my first and then some. Ima start a thread tomorrow with pics from the bow trip.

I know a guy whom swears to having caught a brown near Fort Saskatchewan! I've always been skeptical. Also heard rumors of a rocky being caught just upstream of Fort Saksatchewan.

JR, I actualy find that good size goldeye are more easily caught with the jumbo minnows but thats just me. I'm not sure I follow your last post.

In the future I'ma be a legend!! LMAO!

Or were you wondering if that was by legend's? either way the answer is no. I won't fish there because it is way to popular of a spot and the pressure is ridiculous. Id rather hike a mile than rub shoulders so we get off the beaten trail. Pics are from 3 different spot and I've been PM'd multiple times for the holes. Sorry not given them out, hit legends all u'd like. When ppl ask where I'm fishing thats where I send them lol!!!!

I've never seen sturgeon rise b4. Or were you refering to a the goldeye rising?

As a note, I did catch sturgeon last year while set rigging for walleye. BUT it's not leagel to sportfish for sturgeon. Enless you are the holder of a sturgeon licence and then you would likely have tags too. I missed the boat on one of these licences by days!! I'm still upset about it.

I've seen sturgeon Jump two feet in the air on TV before lol. While they were hooked!

I'd love to see one rising but I think you boys gota be BSing me because not only are they bottom feeders with sucker style mouths but they have very poor eye's! They have BARBELS guys, I bet thats so they can feel bugs mid flight right?! LOL. What do they do? Flip upside down? There mouths are on the bottom side of their wedge shaped heads.

You saw sturgeon rising quite frequently?! Lets see some pics. You ever even caught any? They eat shells, crustations, insects, small fish, dead fish, etc. People target them with dead stuff on bottom or pickeral rigs, etc. Not flys.

In order for me to be a believer I'ma have to here it from someone edjucated on the subject or evidence/proof

And what I ment with the tags wasn't about tags for harvesting them, tags for TRACKING them. The licence I was speaking of was for targeting them (which isn't a very ethical thing to do) and then tagging fish for the release. Unfortunatly the biologist had given out all the tags already. I know in past times just to fish for them there was a seperate licence it was only a buck fifty tho.

Nice fish.

It's obviously been a long winter though, they sure are skinny.

Time for them to strap on the feed bag!

I saw a sturgeon rise last year while we were anchored and fishing for goldeye. Couldn't believe it almost wet my pants, 30 feet from the boat, it's head was about 8 inches wide. We went back a week later and caught a 37 incher in the same spot, great fun, this year maybe we'll get the bigger one.
Good luck
Doug
