Default budget fly line

I typically use quality Airflo line on all my rods, but I currently need a budget line for a 4wt rod.

Just looking for standard WF floating. Can someone recommend something in the <$50 range?

also, it's for a beginner fly fisher.

thanks!

I like Cortland 444 on my 4 wt, it's about $60, so perhaps a little over your budget. I wouldn't really cheep out on line though, especially for a beginner. It might just make it to frustrating to cast.

The 444 is also quite durable. Great for a beginner who will be slapping the rocks with it; getting it tangled in trees..etc.

They're not too bad if you look after them, especially for 30$!

I think most fly shops have a "sales bin" for last years wonder line when the newest, greatest, latest ones enter the shop. Crowsnest angler has one and there is definitely bargains to be had.

SA has supra 54$ on there site has a welded loop cast pretty good so far no where near as good as my orvis hydros line. Not a bad price for what you get 444 isn't bad either but it doesn't have a loop
