Default The Last Mexican Grizzlys

A few days ago a friend from this forum saked me about the Grizzly in Mexico, which some biologist believe still exist in the high sierras in Chihuahua, La Sierra del Nido to be precise.
I found a few pictures of the last grizzly hunts of the 60's and 70's.
I think It will be interesting to share with you.
SALUDOS!!!

I think it was in Andy Russell's book, "Grizzly Country", where there was a section about catching grizzlies in Mexico and tying them up in the bull-fighting ring and letting one bull after another come after the bear. I remember reading about it somewhere, could be wrong about the book.

Anyway, look at the length of the claws on the cub in the second pic. WOW!!

Somewhere, I read a story about a Grizzly hunt in Durango state, at the beginning of the twentieth century. Hard to believe how many Grizz they encountered. Flying down to Manzanillo, a couple of years ago, I was amazed how much really rough, spectacular, isolated mountain terrain there is, so maybe there is still hope that a few are around.
