Default South Bend Fly Rod

I have my grandfathers South Bend Model 49 9' split bamboo fly rod, in the original cloth bag.

I have tried researching on-line for information on the rod, but cannot find any reference to this particular model. Lots of info out there on others.

Not looking to sell or value the rod, just looking for any information on it, like what year it was built (I guess 1949) and what it was rated for, trout, etc.

Anyone with vintage rod knowledge that can shed some light would be appreciated.

I flyfish with more modern rods and have considered using the old one just for sentimental value, but do not want to break it if that is unadvisable considering the age of the rod.

Thanks in advance for taking the time.
