Facebook hypocrisy - I am confused...please help
How is that Facebook censors remarks and yet claims to agree with free speech at the same time?
Please try to explain to me what part of this I am missing.

Just liked he blocked firearms sales on FB but hired more armed bodyguards, bringing the total up to 17 or something.

there's free speech and then there's Terms of Service agreements.
Facebook is a private company and a privately run web site, just like AO is.

Censoring what employees write on a intra-company site??? OH THE HORROR!!!! Must be a slow week for that parasite Ezra. Try writing something inappropriate on your company's website and see what happens.
Wonder what would happen if some techie working at the Rebel started posting about how much BS Ezra stirs up. Guy would be out the door in 2 seconds.

free speech is not dead, but there are consequences for saying certain things.

This is not about Ezra. Its about the point he's making.
It's not on the intranet either... it's on a white board in their building.

still the same issue. Companies have a right to censor what their employees write on their web pages or walls. In fact they have legal LIABILITY for it. And my point about the rebel still stands. Ezra. would not put up with "free speech" criticism of himself or the Rebel on company assets. It's a phony complaint on his part. He's just looking to rake muck again.
And I mean seriously, the Rebel is trying to pretend what they do is anything close to legitimate journalism when they twist the name of a well-known CEO into an insult? Heck, even the CBC doesn't sink that low. Don't recall them calling the past Prime Minister Stephen "Humper"

" Regardless of the content or location, crossing out something means silencing speech or one person's speech is more important than another's,"
Sounds like he was supporting someones right to free speech, by speaking out against whoever crossed out the phrase. Did not sound like he was speaking out against the second phrase.
The ban on firearms advertising is a little hypocritical considering he recently took up hunting, but likely a business decision.
Free speech is alive and you are free to start your own website and free speech to your hearts content. Will you allow those that stand opposed to your views to use your site as a soapbox for theirs?
" our understanding of free speech has been distorted, mostly because people use "free speech" as a weapon where it doesn't apply, and often as a shield to hide behind when they're being criticized"

Hilarious. The minute anyone gets censored and their thread deleted here on AO, and they bring up "free speech", everyone says "it's AO's site...don't like it? Go start your own."
Same thing with Facebook.

In the context of this discussion - they are both business enterprises and subject to the rules of the ownership.
