Looks like an Otter to me.

There really are only four possibilities considering the color of the fur.

Mink, has short neck. Tail shorter then body and not tapered.
Marten, seldom that dark and has short neck. Tail shorter an not tapered.
Fisher, shorter face and shorter neck. More upright stance.
Otter, long neck, short face, dark, long tapered tail. Everything fits for what I see.

Lighting can play tricks with color but given the other qualities I'd say 90% sure it's an Otter.

Looks like an other and as far as naming him goes....Frank? Steve?

Steve actually works if its a Martin as well.

Looks more like a Phil to me.

Neck is too long to be a Steve or a Frank.

What about Martin? It's like a boy named Sue.

We have a place in B.C. and there’s lots of otters there. They are very cool animals to watch. They’ll catch a fish and hop up on a raft or dock and eat it then lay in the sun for an hour. Great entertainment
