Im usually more of a lurker on here, but wanted to share my antelope hunt, as im enjoying seeing everyone's photos.

I found it to be a tough hunt, but was thankful to harvest an antelope on the fourth day!

Most of the permission I had lined up was for grazing leases and pastures.
We quickly discovered that most of the antelope were on crop fields and not the grasslands/pastures (in the area we hunted anyways).

I blew a stalk on opening morning on a good sized herd with a couple nice bucks.
It seemed they were in pretty sizable groups (10-20 was common and several 30-40) which made stalks a little bit more of a challenge.
The snow also made for an interesting hunt, it was more like deer hunting in late November than the dry, warm prairie hunt I had imagined.

We happened upon this group on a field that was perfect for a stalk, and thanks to a very obliging landowner I was able to make a quick crawl through the snow and come over a ridge about 100 yards from the herd.
Waited 15 minutes for him to stand up, and it was all over!

We also found all the other hunters we encountered to be really friendly, willing to share info, etc, including a couple local guys that put us on a herd that didn't quite have what they were looking for. Everyone just seemed to be out enjoying themselves, which was awesome to see!

Nice bucks everyone
I'll add mine.
14"
Probably the last one I'll ever shoot, I'll be in my 70's if I ever get drawn again.

Great series of bucks this year guys. So much fun and such nice animals makes that ten year wait seem worth it. Hunting speed goats is a really fun hunt. No need to get up at the crack of dawn and a bit like hunting the African plains. I really like hunting Antelope. Thanks to all that posted pictures/stories.

Yup looks like tough sledding this year for the antelope, I was drawn last year and they had a foot or so of wet snow the week before the antelope season opened, everything was mud and slop, not sure what is worse opening morning was 40km winds and wet snow rain mix, but I got my goat the 1st day and headed home.

Last year I spent the 3 days before the opener - scouting and lining up permission. Opening morning I snuck into my ambush spot in the dark, spotted the herd heading my way and in range before legal shooting time, and right on the very minute of open legal time - got hit by a blizzard of slush barrelling sideways across the field! That slop lasted most of the day - got my antelope the following day! Probably my last one, by the time my draw comes up again, I'll be long gone! Great thread - thanks for posting everyone !

Very nice harvests. I was pleasantly surprised this season as to the quality of antelope in the area, not many actually requested permission so I am doubtful any were harvested here. Interesting animals.

We had a fun week. The 3 hunters in our group were successful. The worst part about the snow was that it covered in the badger holes, making walking very treacherous.

Yeah no kidding!
Happened lots haha.
Just plodding along across the pasture, then all of the sudden, bam! Leg goes down a foot into a badger hole.
Time after time, all you can do is laugh (especially if its your buddy walking beside you)
