Default Do Bore Snakes work?

I've bumped into these things online and was wondering if they are effective and how they are used? Do you soak the whole cord in solvent?

Unless you clean them after every pass, bore snakes are great at running the same fouling through the barrel every time you use them.

I keep a bore snake in my daypack for that "just in case". They don't take up much room.

That is all I use anymore. Got one for every caliber. I wash them with dish soap and hot water after every use and then rinse very well. I pour wipeout and powder solvent down the barrel and then use the bore snake.
