Default Arrow Weight

Still looking to dial in my package for next year.

Right now I’m shooting and Bowtech Carbon Icon at 70lbs with Gold Tip Warriors, and Wasp Boss 100gr broadheads.

Finished arrow weight is 393gr with 12% FOC.

I’m thinking I should be a bit heavier. Around the 500gr mark.

What setup would you guys recommend?

I’ve passed through elk at 385-440 gr, never had to go heavier. Missed yardage estimation is one of the leading causes of poor shots, the extra speed helps a fair bit. If you always hunt from a stand or blind and never shoot past 35yrds you could go as heavy as makes sense. I like to keep my speed around 285+ fps, so I adjust arrow weight to what allows for that.

Ive shot a few moose and a ton of whitetail with 380 grain arrows in the pass with good results. however for good overall weight for any critter in alberta. I would look to have a finished arrow weight between 400-450 grain.

My arrow weight has been 360 gr for a number of years now. Have not had any penitration issues with all kinds of critters. I also like to keep my arrow speed around 300 fps.
