Default 2014 Archery Whitetail

I had posted pictures of this deer a couple months ago after I got him on my trail cameras. I knew this was a deer I would like to try my luck at this year so I thought I would give an update. I was out on Tuesday evening and while sitting in the blind a smaller 5 x 5 and a couple doe's made their way into the field. I watched as they slowly moved to within 27 yards and I became so involved in what they were doing I never noticed that a huge, heavy, dark racked buck with a large drop tine on his left beam which I had never seen on any of the cameras was watching me from about 90 yards away just inside the trees. I am sure he had seen me move as he slowly turned and went back the way he came and faded back into the trees. I put my head down and felt sick that I had blown a chance at such a super buck and was kicking myself for letting my guard down. As I was sitting there glassing over that direction wishing the drop tine buck would return I glanced over to look out the other side of the blind and almost choked as the big 5 x 5 I was after was standing 30-35 yards away. I have no idea where he came from but I dropped down grabbed my bow came to full draw from my knees and brought the bow up to the shooting window. Then my worst nightmare, my peep had twisted and I couldn't see my pin. The buck was looking right at me now and very focused. I lowered myself and the bow back down into the blind and twisted the peep back around. The buck had started to snort and stomp the ground now and I was shaking so bad I couldn't get my release back on the D loop. My Mathews Monster MR5 was a lot harder to draw the second time but I lined up the pin and hit the release. When the red Lumenok lit up I watched as it hit its mark and the buck spun around ran less than 20 yards and expired from the 100 gr Slick Trick Broadhead. There sure are highs and lows but I wouldn't have wanted it to turn out any other way. I have pictures and memories that will last forever. Hope you enjoyed the update, best of luck to everyone this fall.

Great job! Very nice looking buck. I have had the same "shakes" when trying to hook the release, I felt your pain. Lol
