280's ad campaign could be along the lines of..."It's almost a 7 mag...except slower"...or...."When your buddies all shoot 270's,, get yourself the next best thing"

I've seen it. Across the lake shot I believe. Not so hard to fathom really. An acquaintance here in the End area that guided the Yukon for years shot several with his 270. Not 5hat there's much diff between the 2

Default .280 rem.

Years ago, 55 to be exact, read an article in OUTDOOR LIFE(when it REALLY was a great mag) Jack O'Conner wrote an article on the .280/.270/.284.
basically,ain't no difference:argue2
all will get the job done with proper bullet placement AND projectiles that SUIT the game hunted.
I DO like my .284...have a model88.
Just before retiring back in 2012 (Now semi retired) I bought a SAVAGE in .300 mag and sold my 2 .30-06.........I SHOULD have just bought a .280 and have been done with it......heck,here on the BIG ISLAND,i thought our monster blacks (Bears) needed something BIG......last few fell to an ancient 6.5x58mm
