Default Black badge course, what does it entail?

My wife and I have been thinking about taking the black badge course, looking for more info about this.

Classroom time, videos, live fire time on an IPSC course basically .
Teaches you the rules and procedures associated with IPSC
The certification will allow you to compete in Regustered IPSC matches.

Look into your pistol rigging and other requirements to get an idea of how much you will have to lay out besides the course itself
A guy can tie up some big bucks in a rig but it's all fun!

You will need a holster best is kydex not leather. Bladetech makes a good one. (no retention), no drop leg holster, mag pouches , preferably 5 magazines, semi auto 9mm or larger, and riughly 500 rounds of ammo, oh and an open mind.... read up on IPSC Alberta website. Go to Phoenix, instructor David S. come watch a match, Sunday Jan 22 at the shooting edge, ALOT of fun and great friendly people

DO IT!! You won't regret

Its a good investment in pistol craft even if you never get serious about IPSC. David is very good.

To complete a BB you don't need a full blown expensive IPSC rig - its a course not a serious match. A secure holster that covers the trigger and doesn't allow the grip to hang below the belt is fine, 2 mag pouches on your belt will be just fine too (the third in your pocket is no problem as its the one you start with, I still only use 4 mag pouches with the 5th in my back pocket to start any stage). In matches you normally need at least 4 mags, 5 is better (I shot a few matches with 4 and did OK). You could complete a BB with 3 mags.

Call David and get his advice/opinion. A functional holster and pouches made from Kydex won't cost all that much. Any sturdy belt works, the inner/outer Velcro belts only really offer convenience, no real performance benefits IMHO.
