Default It's a good day

Been reading the posts and stories about your 2016 fall season, a lot of
great animals and times in the woods shared. Thank you all for posting.

Had a good season the fall myself, called in a nice Tom turkey yesterday right
in to 25 yards but would offer a clear shot so I had to let him walk on. Sat in
stand for deer from 2:30 till around 7:00 pm saw 12- 14 squirrels that was all.

This morning in the woods just behind my house I had 4 doe come in and put
one on the ground in about 200'. It was a 30 yard shot with my bow backed
down to 55lbs and still got a strong pass thru.

Had a serious neck injury from back in July they wanted to fuse 3
vertibra and remove 2 discs. I chose not to. Lost strength in my right arm from a
pinched nerve that only allows me to draw a max of 55lbs smoothly, I used to shoot 65lbs
for the last 5 years and 70lbs before that.
Didn't think I was ever gonna be able to shoot the bow at all a month ago.

Here she is not a big one but I can taste those sausages as I write this.
Yes there is a God. :-)

Good luck and God bless to you all this fall in AB.

Congrats on putting some meat on the ground. Glad you're still able to hunt!

Another good day.
Got this one 1:30 this afternoon, came right under the stand.
Gowing away shot at about 15 to 20 feet past my stand.
Watched her run fast and straight away for a about 35 yards then
my periferal vision caught something to my left may have heard him
run past me as well. A glance to my left at about 40 yards I caught
a glimpses of a nice racked buck chasing my doe. Switched focus right
back to the doe and was able catch to her make a left turn down into a small
ravine now she's about 60 yards away.
Gave her about a 1/2 hour, then started trailing, zero blood (mid-high entry hit no pass thru).
Went right to small ravine where she made a left. Still no
blood, walked down into the ravine bottom another maybe 30 yards and
found her piled up right there.
Showing just a rough angle and depth of the shot.

Thank you all.

LOL burgerboy ..
Nice is like the rack on the buck that chased that doe!

Couldn't guess the points was moving through thick brush and too far, but I could see enough to tell "Yes it was nice."

It all happened so fast it took me this long to remember the details..

I only got my climber up just 15-20 mins. before the doe came past.

Sound of the falling pine bark going up with a climber has brought bucks
in too fast in the past if they happen to be close, leaving me with my bow
still teathered on the ground while scanning with the range finder.
Like getting caught with your pants down.

This time it all worked out. Didn't get the horns but I did want to get 2
in the freezer then Buck hunt.

So far so good, but I expect to be going back to work like maybe next week.
The clock is ticking.

I mostly choose not to hunt after bow season, just my choice is all.
Hate the cold weather too, it was ok years ago today not so much.

Thank you all, I've been reading the posts of animals you all got this fall
and hunting stories of loved ones shared. It's been a good year thank you
all.

I've let a doe go bye (hoped to use her for bait) but she had other plans last
week, had 2 doe go past the blind today about 4:00pm no buck followed.
Got maybe 2 more days before I go back to work maybe just maybe one of
the 4 bucks I saw back in the last week of Sept. may show ?

I'll be out in the morn, good luck and god bless to you all.

P.S, it's getting cold down here might get frost I don't how you guys can
stand it.
