Huh?

The stock and barrel are a $1000 upgrade for a $500 bill.

Have a boo for yourself. This is the model I have experience with in 264wm

The trigger they use is very nice as well.

Chuck, have you handled that stock? I have and there is no way in hell that t is worth that much more than a Bell & Carlson on the EW.

No, but I've had known quantities handle it and have seen copies of their dimensions. It's construction is the winner though.

Pretty rifle ,for sure. Is it still being made? I can't seem to find it. I figure it must be up around $1500?

As far as I know it is. My buddy got that one NIB for 1250ish off an AO member.

Don't get me wrong. I like them lots. I also like the stock better than a B & C, as it doesn't have that thick grip that many dislike, and it has a really grippy non-slip texture. But this thread is about best bang for your buck. I just don't think you can make an argument that it is worth almost 50% more than a Model 70. I had an Extreme Weather in 270 WSM. It shot lights out, and IMO, is the best value in a quality all-weather hunting rifle.

I've got a .307 Big Bore that'll do as good, and do it faster! But still, once you put a scope on a trim little lever gun I find it becomes no more handy than a nice little bolt gun. Its a damned if you do/damned if you don't thing...it'll shoot better than I can with open sights, but putting on glass wrecks its nice handling and carrying features, which is the one thing I like best about levers. For me that makes them fun and useful but still a compromise. In a bolt gun I get usually better accuracy, better ballistics and arguably more reliability for few downsides. I won't ever sell mine, and will hopefully hunt and shoot them more later on down the road though.
