Best Bow for beginner
Just curious what everyone's opinion is on a beginner bow? Got some permission to hunt deer and the bow season is still open with tons of deer on the property. Thanks in advance

Best advice I can give, if you don't have a bow now and have never shot one before...don't get one with the intention of hunting this season.
By all means go to a pro shop and get into archery, but have at least enough practice from now to next year season opener under your belt before you plan on hunting with a bow.

Please take LC's advice. Wounding a deer is the last thing you wana do with a stick n string. Too little to get a set up together and shooting well before end of season.

A full year of practice minimum is what would recommend. Its a nice warm indoor sport for the winter. Go see a pro shop with some lanes inside and start now or over winter.

Please learn how to shoot the bow "well" first.
Then learn about arrows and broadheads and what is best for the way you plan to hunt.
A bowhunter education course can be helpfull.

Sound advice given so far.
As far as a beginners bow goes my suggestion would be to visit a PRO shop so jimbows, Calgary archery center and OC archery in Airdie (I think that's the name anyway). Start looking at bows, set your budget, make sure you get measured for draw length, start test firing bows and buy the one you like best. Bows fit and feel different to everyone and have features that some guys think are a must and others couldn't care less about. For example some guys love to have super speed some want smooth draw...
For a starter bow Diamond has some good value. The package bows are low price but usually outfitted with pretty crappy accesories that will last you for a while but there's a good chance you'll want to upgrade them before too long.
Good luck in your search. For a lot of good info on bows check out a website called hunters friend.

Wow. Unanimity on an AO thread. Unheard of. Sounds like good advice for the OP.

any decent mid price range bows? i know next to nothing about them. probably best to go to jimbows and hold a few and see how they feel.

Carbon Icon or Diamond SB-1 are great midrange bows.

I just picked up the Bear Archery Wild RTH package from Cabelas with the intention of getting ready for next season too. Was fun trying out about 7 different setups, my arms got tired

I bought the Diamond Infinite Edge earlier this year. It's a great beginners bow. It has lots of adjustment for draw length and weight. So far it's put down a bull moose combined with 100 grain slick tricks. Got the arrow to come out the other side. You don't have to spend $1000 to get a quality bow.

I started with a 2015 Diamond Provider last December and practiced with the stock accessories and cheaper arrows. Over time I upgraded my sight and arrow rest as my technique and constancy improved. Towards the end of this year once I fell in love with archery I bought a Mathews and threw on my accessories then added some other top quality new ones including better arrows etc. Several of my friends hunt with mid-range bows like Bear, Diamonds, and PSE and have taken down game. With all hunting gear and equipment you get what you pay for in quality I find. Now that I am putting a lot of arrows through my bows its nice to have a super smooth drawing, quiet, forgiving bow that I know will last longer and keep me satisfied for many years.

Far too many people buying bows recently and hunting with them the same season. Takes at least 6 months to become proficient.
