Brass for Reloading
Just looking for some opinions on the brass you all use for reloading. I have been using Hornady and been noticing the cases are wearing down pretty quickly and i haven't been using hot loads.

I use Lapua wherever possible. If Lapua isn't available, I don't mind Remington.

Which cartridge? Hirsch Precision, and Prophet River both carry Lapua.

In general, I have used winchester, remington, dominion, and imperial brass... I refuse to use hornady and federal for the reasons that you mentioned... And those 2 brands seem to lose their spring and ability to return to shape much sooner than the rest...
I haven't used the higher end brass like Lapua, norma, etc. So I cannot comment.

Kodiak lake outfitters in Barrhead have a pretty good selection of Lapua brass, 6.5x55, 260rem, 6.5-284, 338 Lapua,22-250, 223 and many others. If I can't get Lapua brass I buy nosler.

Budget shooter supply has 308 lapua brass in stock as well. Bass pro in Calgary has about 20 bags of Winchester brass too.

lapua brass
Yep..Prophet River has it. The Winchester is also very good. I have heard others complsining about Hornady and Fdderal on a regular basis. Some suggest that Lapua is expensive but I disagree. Given the number of times it can be reloaded I would suggest it is actually inexpensive.

I've used Winchester brass for most of my reloading over the last 35 years or so - out of most of the generic brass, I've found it to work about the best re: cost VS life.

Lapua, Win, R-P, Hornady, Federal is how I would rank commonly avaliable brass. I do not have enough experience with Norma to comment.
Hornady tends to be too hard and Federal too soft. Nosler does not make their own brass. So the real maker depends on the cartridge it's mostly Norma, Federal and Hornady though.

Years ago, I didn't mind Winchester brass, but recently, the quality of Winchester brass isn't nearly as good.

THIS!
sad where win components have landed.
i've spent more time taking apart loads to switch out primers than making new lately.

image.jpg This is some Winchester 7mm RM once fired brass I recently came across that ended up in the cull box. Not impressed ! I'll spend the extra cash on the higher end stuff when available .

For my .308 I use once fired Federal gold metal match. The quality is quite good and consentrisity is excellent. I'm lucky because the police use our range and they usually leave their brass behind. For everything else I try to buy Nosler.

Funny, I've heard the exact opposite concerning Hornady and Federal brass. Generally my friends shy away from Remington and Winchester. Personally I've loaded Remington and Hornady. I haven't had any problems with my Hornady and some of it I'm on the 4th+ reload.
