Default Elk around Fawcett Lake in wmu 511

Hey all.... Just looking for some general information. My friend has his bull moose tag for 511 and looks like I may be tagging along as the grunt help!! lol. My question is, what are the elk numbers like in that area. Should I bring my bow along in case we cross elk. I have never been in that area before and am just asking if there is a good to decent chance that we will run across some elk. Thanks for your thoughts guys!

From what I was told, farm land is where the elk hide out in that zone. Take that with a grain of salt but the guy who told me, hunts up that way. I'm sure you will get some better intel soon. Good luck.

Default Elk

One thing you know for sure is murphy's law says you'll see your Elk if you leave the bow and or gun at home.

I have no info on the area but I've learned the hard way never to leave the bow at home.

There is elk there. In the deep bush pretty spread out. You will see tracks . When you do find a bull there they are BIG!!! More numbers north of orloff but need a boat. Good luck getting permission on private land there. Not many elk on the private land there anyways and the local keep that for themselves. Hunted that area for a long time. Too early for good deer up there. Better around mid October. Good luck. Had a bull call back last week in the deep.

I would bring the bow, the elk tag, and buy a bear tag to bring as well.
Good luck!

I've hunted up there for years. Not many elk where the moose are. Lots of bears this year

They are there. I know of some family that have taken elk up that way.

I icefished Fawcett lake and had a big herd cross the road on me in the early am. Was roughly 30 with cows and spikes no shooters.

This was in January.
