Default Wolf in 349

Was out this weekend for 5 days.

Sitting a on clearing by a lake with several game trails, I heard several branches break over a course of 15 mins.

Shortly after this girl walked out onto the game trail.
I was not positioned quite right and had to adjust slightly.
Thankfully, I was well camouflaged and there was a spruce tree blocking part of my body. After getting the shakes and breathing under control...

At 38 yards, I fired the 257 Weatherby.

My first wolf.

Still unsure what I plan on doing with her.
Color is amazing but size is average.

38 yards! Now that's pretty cool.

Love the color. Nicely done!

Great job, now if we could only get about another 300 of those suckers out of there.

We were out in 349 and 350 last weekend. Wolf tracks all around the Freeman River where we were chasing ruffies. Talking to some locals the population has been growing steadily for the last decade. They are over populated and at nuisance numbers according to one grizzled old timer we ran into back in the boonies. made us promise to "shoot every last dog we see!" Personally all I've ever seen up there are tracks, i'd love to see one in the flesh.

Was not mangy at all.
A little thin in the body is all.

She got a little wet and muddy on the quad ride back to camp.

Nice one. I saw my first wolf the other day in 348. I didn't have my rifle with me. He ran out on the road 100 yards away. Stopped as soon as he saw us and turned back the way he came.

The best wolf rifle is......

The one you have in your hands when a wolf steps out

Congrats.
