Default Taber pheasant fest

Yay!! No dog but I like to walk and shoot things so it should be a nice outing

Anyone ever attend in the past and would like to share some insights

Default Taber

You will have a great time. Obviously a better/easier hunt with a dog but if you are on foot make sure you push all the small pieces of cover you can find on your parcel. while pushing these make a bit of noise too as pheasants like to run rather than fly so you want to get them up.

good luck.

It's a great time, they release more pheasants then the 4 person limit (or at least did last year) with some foot work you will be able to find them. Spot downed birds well, I would be more worried about losing downed/wounded birds without dogs then I would finding/flushing them. They definitely love to run so setup some blockers with the people you hunt with.

Last year we were drawn for 3 spots, every one was beautiful and unique. We were drawn for another 2 this year so it should be lots of fun!

I would definitely want to have at least one or two dogs, for both finding the birds, and retrieving cripples.

Smile The land is not all the same.

I'm sure that you need a dog, there are places that you won't find any birds if you don't have a dog. Some sites are 6 1/4 s and very rough. My suggestion is to make some new friends who have dogs and hunt with them.

I'm sure you guys would all like that. Just advertise here, I've done it and met some wonderful people. All younger so it worked out great.

I've got a Setter pup that I thought would be fun to take.

Totally missed the draw this year forgot all about it until i saw this post ,too late. So i am willing to offer myself as a handler and my German short hair pointer in exchange for an opportunity to partake of the Taber pheasant fest .
