Default Antelope Euro

First antelope euro. Removing the horns was special. I did not realize that bone extended into the horns to the extent it did. I've done sheep and expected a similar removal........not the same. Not knowing how long the bone extended into the horns, I didn't submerse the head deep enough into boiling water in order to soften them up. Lesson learned.............submerse the head and horns past the cutters. It was a September tag............so the horns were firmly attached.

Attaching the sheath to the bone core........

Anyone do this and what did you use to permanently attach them?

Boil the head upside down (horns into the water).
I simply use white (wood glue) but any good appoxy glue will probably do.
Are you planning on mounting the jaws with the euro?

I use automobile bondo to put the horn back on with, it don’t take much, just a small ball on the tips of the skull.

Cool! I had no idea that the bone extended the far underneath the horn sheath. I would almost not permanently attach them but just slide them on loosely with some cotton baton to keep them from rattling around. Would be a neat conversation piece to show the guests

No damage at all. Didn't even take any colour out.

I've actually seen guys pull horns off in the September season by dragging the antelope back to the truck by a horn. They're not stuck on there very well at all!

I've used cheap white silicone, filled up fairly full, and then wiped off the excess when in the right spot. Looked fine to me.
