Heard from a couple trapper buddies today bears are getting up and moving around, no doubt this warm spell making there dens a little on the damp side.

Anyone else seeing anything?

Male grizz like to take a stroll around in winter when weather warms, maybe steal moose/elk away from hard working wolf pack for a midnight snack.

The bear researchers I was talking to had their collared bears finally denning a week ago in the Hinton area and my staff were still seeing tracks at the start of December.

Some of the older bigger bears don’t truly hibernate, waking up several times during the winter. Quite normal actually. I believe a fair amount of griz here in Montana are still out and about. At least 2 weeks ago they were when a buddy of mine got charged.
