Default Dashcams and border crossings

Anyone have experience crossing the U S Border with a Dashcam? Would it be a good idea to remove it, can't see the U S Border Guards being too happy with being recorded, but just thought I'd ask to avoid any potential issues...

Thanks

P

Went through with my Front and Rear Blackview cameras and didn't think anything of it. Actually totally forgot it could even be an issue.

Can’t see it being an issue but going through a border crossing they can seem to make an issue out of most anything if they desire or see a reason to.

Lots of cars have them built in now...they can't be removed so there should be no issue.

There MAY BE one or 2 highend vehicles that have them, IDK. Have never seen a North American built vehicle with a dash cam from factory, most vehicles now have backup cameras as it is required by law.
OP, I went thru Coutts last week with one in plain view without issue.

You are making a problem outta nothing. Worst thing can happen - they ask you to shut it off. Imo hardly a reason to poll the public.

Many cars now have 360 degree cameras. There are aftermarket software kits that allow these to essentially work as a dashcam.

That's funny that you mentioned that...I have a dash cam and have gone through the border many times with it on, except the last time...LOL..told me to turn it off. I guess it depends who you get at the border, but I turn mine off everytime now....

Your experience depends 100% on the border guard. FWIW they ask you to take your sunglasses off...

No concerns on coming back into Canada with a dashcam. Asking to remove sunglasses is SOP for identification and other purposes (impaired drivers might try to hide their eyes type thing)

I don't think there are laws against filming in public on either side of the boarder.
