Default Firearms Act Proposal for Amnesty Period to 2009

http://canadagazette.gc.ca/partI/200.../regle2-e.html

The Order Declaring an Amnesty Period (2006) came into force on May 17, 2006, and was extended for a year by an Amending Order on May 16, 2008. The proposed Amending Order would extend the amnesty period for one additional year. The proposed amnesty is one of three interdependent initiatives which, collectively, optimize the conditions to enable previously lawful firearms owners to bring themselves back into compliance with the Firearms Act. Specifically, these combined regulatory proposals would, for one year, until May 16, 2009, (i) extend the fee waiver associated with renewing or upgrading an existing licence; (ii) extend the amnesty which protects non-restricted firearms owners taking steps as set out in the Amnesty Order, such as obtaining a licence and/or a registration certificate, from criminal prosecution; and (iii) enable expired Possession-Only Licence (POL) holders to apply for a new POL.

Will protect agaist prosecution, but if dug into further it is stated that un registerd long guns, will be siezed until such time as they are registered.
Also passed in the House about 2 or 3 weeks back.

I just registered 3 guns under the amnesty. They were given to me by my father-in-law and were never previously registered. It was painless. I was a little apprehensive at first.

Geo:
Then you better hope for a CPC majority in Parliment. And you better pray none of the other parties even form a minority, going forward, or we will see the end of handgun ownership, semi auto anything ownership, yup that's right your Remi 7400 or 742, and you Remi 1100, Browning A5, and likely your Ruger 10/22 will all be classed a prohibated,( gotta love the Leftest mind set eh!) and no you wont even get to use em at the range, ask the fellows with 32's and short barrelled handguns.
