Buchers and CWD

My prairie Mule Deer buck is in the freezer, did it myself as always.Have to get it tested for CWD now. I wonder what the deal is with game butchers,will they take a prairie deer or not. Just thinking about the cross contamination issue with Elk,Moose and other game they cut.

If its not an issue at the moment I wonder if it will be in the future. Your animal may test negative,but could be contaminated from a previous one cut on the same table.

Personally I cut my own animals, I do not want any other peoples stuff near mine.

I've had one deer that tested positive for CWD. As far as I know it cant even be killed in an autoclave trying to clean the knives used on it, since its prion based. Haven't called the butcher yet to see what their procedures are on a positive case.

Threw out the meat and the knives used on it.

The butchers probably wash down with their regular sanitizer and continue.
It’s gotta be contributing to a lot of cwd contamination in folks meat.
