Default Mrs. D’s moose hunt

As I stated in the blind thread my wife drew her antlerless moose licence this year.
Unfortunately Mrs. D isn’t fond of the ladders we use to access the blinds, and on top of that my blind locations aren’t showing much for moose anyways.

So it’s hit the crown land and tour the lease roads time.

This evening we are taking our last crack in some good moose country hoping to cut some tracks, when it happened. 200ish yards, the Mrs. dismounts the truck loads up her trusty .270 Win and lets a round off.

Those old fashioned 130 grain Winchester Silver Tips(Aluminum tip)[milder reloads] don’t disappoint. She nailed the near side shoulder and the bullet exited about mid boiler room, her buck went 40ish yards and came to rest just like the pictures show.

Now to find her moose………..

Great job Mrs D very nice buck . Hope you tag that moose .

The 270 is one of my favorite cartridges ,haven't seen those silver tips in a long time. I shot a bull with a 30 30 using silver tips years ago ,worked great.

At 16:58 it happened.
After sitting and watching a cut line till about 16:45 where this terrible specimen of a buck strolled from 422 yards to a mere 65 yards.
after he moved on, the Mrs and I decided to take the slow path back to the county road in our little chunk of crown land.
At the second to last lease road before the county road, there she stood, dumber than a box of hammers.
A single shot and the work began.
Right on the edge of the lease road none the less.

A nice yearling cow.

And Mrs D is smiling ear to ear because she gets to sleep in, and no more late suppers.
