Default 2021 Rifle Harvest Thread

Hey fellow outdoorsmen,

I always appreciate Lefty’s harvest thread (definitely one of my favorites each year) and took a quick look and didn’t see a rifle harvest thread for 2021.

Not everyone wants to start their own thread, so please post up a picture of your success (doesn’t just have to be antlered, any harvest is great!) from this season. Please keep the comments positive.

I did already post a thread for my mule deer hunt, but will start the thread with a picture of my buck.

Good luck to all for the remaining couple of weeks of the main season.

DR

I took this white tail early in the season in my favorite hunting area, a heavily used piece of crown land that has a staging area at the bottom.
However, I hunt the lower parts of it instead of using a quad.
I dropped to one knee and took this buck at 194 yards with a 150 TSX out of my .303

My son decided to rip home and grab his off road rig instead of us dragging it down to the staging area ! LOL

This is a typical buck for this area, bigger bodies compared to the rack size.
There are some larger bucks here, but they are not plentiful. In fact, I saw more deer just driving from one spot to another on our elk hunt in 4 days than I have in any whole season hunting this particular piece of ground and I have hunted it since the mid 80's.

Some great animals, congratulations everyone.
I folded my tag yesterday on the first chance I had. 3 long days afield for me so far this year, with quite a few miles on the boots. This is my second year trying to hunt in some bush and hills, getting away from the wide open prairies a little bit.
There have been some challenges, but I've thoroughly enjoyed it.
Here's my buck. I was all alone which was a pile of work, but managed to get a couple good pictures.
Much thanks to the land owners and managers who grant permission!

Thanks guys, I do like the pic quite a lot. The temps were warm and rain was threatening soon, so I was tempted to get right to work and not take any pictures, glad I took the couple minutes to get a few.

Howard, the rifle is actually a Tikka M65 - 7RM. My first high power rifle, given to me by my Dad. A little overkill for deer, and I have multiple other options, but I do enjoy that rifle. It started my love for the old Tikkas.

Today's whitetail taken at 117 yards with my Marlin 45-70. Dropped him in his tracks.

DRhunter that is a gorgeous deer. Wow! Congrats.

Wifey has an antlered tag for 156. Hopefully we can put something like that in the freezer as well!
