We called one in north of Fort McMurray on Saturday. Came in like he was on a string grunting the whole way. Unlucky for him my partner had a tag. Then the work started and only finished today with a freezer full of meat.

Yes, another river hunt. I’ll post up a separate story.

Yup they are rutting. I went out this morning for a drive. Got out of my Jeep and walked 20 yards to the end of a cut line. I let out one cow call and this bull moose pops out of the bush at 200 yards and starts walking towards me.

He stopped at 100 yards. I let out another cow call and he kept coming at 40 yards he is standing staring at me standing in the middle of the cutline armed with my Tim hortons thermos cup.

When he got to 25 yards he stopped again. I then gave him a bull grunt. He turned sideways and walked into the bush.

Thumbs up

Now prior to going to bed I cow call off the back deck....my property bucks up against farmland and swampy land too...I play with them just to see who hangs around come sunrise....love the rut time for big game

Had one walk past us at 40 yards on Sunday morning in Swan Hills - grunting all the way (no tag, though). What a great time to be in the woods!
