I will always regret not being able to see the Hip live.

Gord had amazing talent, and a true entertainer.

A terrible loss for Canada.

This sucks. Met him in Australia 25 years ago when they were playing a small little hotel bar, had a few "pops" and talked hockey. Great guy, this is a horrible loss.

RIP Mr. Downing. Loved your music and you're one hell of a Canadian to boot.

Default First concert

My dad took me to my first concert when I was 10. I remember walking into the dome hearing the odds play it falls apart (they opened for the hip), shortly after that we were seated and I enjoyed my first concert ever. I had ear plugs in and still thought I was gonna be deaf. It was awesome!

I returned the favor last summer and took my old man to their last show here. Worth every penny and minute spent. Memories I wouldn't trade for anything.

Thanks Gord! RIP

I was at both, wendy under the stars was the best odds song that night, but the last one at the dome was pretty emotional I don't think there was a dry eye in the house after the encore....

Armed with will and determination, and grace too.

I can only think of one other guy who put Canada in front of himself when he faced the absolute obsticle.
Sadly, same disease.

I jumped in my vehicle this morning and the radio came on mid way through a live performance of fiddlers green...I knew instantly we have lost Gord. Having such a deep connection with the bands music it really effected me today and also made me question my own mortality. Cancer has such a deep impact on every person alive and the loved ones we genuinely care about.

Rest In Peace Gord, I’ll always remember the smile on your face.

What awful news to wake up to this morning.

I've seen the Hip a couple of times live and they were great but Gord stood above any other front man I've ever seen.
He was one of those guys I would have loved to just sit around with and talked.

A sad day for Canada.

Gord, you are not gone. We just have to turn on the radio and you will be there with us.

You made my youth better.

God Bless!

Saw the Hip perform the first time in the late '80's and the last time last summer. Overall, I think I've seen them live 5 times. Great memories, especially the concert that I took my future wife to. Thanks Gord......RIP

Listened to the music, never a hip follower and did not really know the impact he had on Canada as a whole but after yesterday I started to see what I missed, you who have been involved with him were blessed. Play it sweet up in heaven Gord.

Even if you were not a huge fan of the music, he was a part of the fabric of Canadian history. Special man. We are lesser without him.
