2021 Whitie Down.

Slipped out of work yesterday for a solo hunt. We finally got some snow so I was hoping it may bring out some Elk. The field I like to go to has had 4 bulls taken this year, I was hoping for a 5th. Got out there and saw two more blinds....kind of scary, at least no body else was out this day. Sat the afternoon, saw 1 coyote. Then around 4:30pm, I saw a single buck. Sighted on him then held off as I was shaky. Took my time, watched him for a while, he was not getting closer. Finally decided to go for it as the light was fading and I have home renos to do, so getting some meat in the freezer right now sounded good. Took 1 shot, 225 yards, 7mm Rem Mag.. Walked up to look for him, no blood. Not looking good. Almost walked away, then decided I better look again. Found a track that had dirt kicked up. Followed it not much more than 25 yds. He was just laying there. Game over. Dragged him out, quartered and packed out. Did gutless method as shot was a tad high. Truck was over a mile away so it took some time to get everything out....the contents of my blind included. My old body is feeling it today.

totally understand this.... 
i left the antlers..... and I botched getting the backstraps out.... figgured I could side chop through the ribs.... whacked the intestines and contaminated em.....
I was choked.
Im still sore today... lol.
