Default Suffield - South NWA

Anyone been drawn for the South NWA during their hunt this year? How was it? Any information would be appreciated. I was on the base in 2015 but they didn't allow any access to the NWA at that time.

The last two years I was there as a hunter then as a helper, the northern end of the south NWA was pretty active. During our hunts activity was quite prevalent especially on the hills. In the 2020 hunt several were harvested in the hilly section.

Good luck on your hunt.

Thanks.
Our hunt is the Jan 27-29th. Dad is turning 65 in December and will be partnering on the tag looking for his first bull elk!

Default South NWA sightings Nov 28th

Unfortunately we got a chinook so it was very warm out and not much movement this weekend. We saw zero elk in the main hunt area. Antelope herds from 5-50 and Muley's everywhere.

North NWA we saw one bull about 5km from K-Rat road on the north west corner.

South NWA (north half) we saw 6 cow elk just before noon, so we watched for a while, parked up and hiked in though coolies etc and they were gone, and around 2pm we spotted 2 elk (one bull and one?)so we worked ourselves downwind and to within 300 yards before noticing the second elk was a bull. we both had antlerless elk tags, so we backed off and left them alone and unaware.

Good hunting

During the day two morning brief over the radio they did say you could take photos, just not of any off limit areas, military structures or any ordnance you may come across. My friend and i glanced at each other and thought "oh, guess we can then" as we thought the day one brief said no photos at all.

Could have been an error on the radio hosts behalf, but we both definitely heard them say we could.
