Wow !! The Deer population looks pretty healthy there Flyguyd. Looks like a great place to pick up some sheds.
i saw Whitetails yesterday that were still packing and some that were only carrying one side.

Yes they are indeed elk, but in 305 not the Whaleback. There was about 160 in that bunch , not one legal bull left only about 12 spikers.

Most of the big bulls will be together and not with the big herds anymore.

I would bet that the amount of 300 + bulls ever to come out of 305 could be counted on 2 hands

I know of 2 big bulls to come out of there! 7x6 around 350" mark and Silver labs
6x6 with a sticker and its prolly 350" too! Lucky BUGGERS! I know there was a big 7x6 shot in the area I hunt in this year....I had my sights on a 5x5 in rifle, but he ran out into the middle of the herd about 30 cows and couple spikers and forkers. SUCKED BIG TIME!

That bein said, me Im after my first elk (first legal one I see is going down) Second I think if you want a huge trophy sized elk, the south west corner of the province is not the place to get it hehehe. I may be wrong on that but IMO

Just gettin a legal one is not even easy in 305 unless you like combat hunting
