Default Fawcett lake

I'm leaving in the next hour or so to go to Fawcett lake.

As being new to the area, i was wondering if anybody would help me out???

I'm not looking for hotspots, just a good starting area. I'm targetting walleye and perch today.

again any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

And if you're in the area and see a Blue Clam 2000 in the middle of the lake, stop by and say hi!!!

Not sure how you made out today but the east side of the lake is where all the inflows are. The west end is the Facett river out flow.

Here's up-date on Fawcett Lake.

I drove to the west end of the lake this morning. Roads were crap from Slave Lake all the way to the lake. I had some close calls on the skinny roads past the Athabasca bridge in Smith. Not alot of room for a car and MASSIVE logging truck going 80 km/h hauling 75 foot trees.

Anyways since never going there before i did check the depth chart before hand and scoped out the ice.

as soo i as i get the Clam 2000 and gear unloaded i walk out to the lake. First thing i see is a small pressure ridge starting. and then Bang, the ice burps. So i played it cool for couple of minutes as there was no other foot tracks out on the lake.

Then i walked on, gave the good old stomp of the boot on ice. and i'm good to go.

I walked out 60 feet from shore and punched couple holes in 7 feet of water. stayed for about 1 hr, no pike no perch.

I left and drove to the Swan Hills and stuck it to the brookies.

This coming weekend i plan on scouting the lake more to find the elusive fish.

I was on 6 inches of ice on Fawcett.

Default Fawcett

I have had some good days early in the season for walleye and pike through the ice on the west side out in front of the A-frame cabin, 8-10 FOW. You have to drill quite a few holes and constantly move around as there is lots of weeds with pockets. Never caught a perch in this area.
