I'm sure all the info is on the CFC website. The seller needs to get your pal#, and full name at a minimum, and call 1-800-731-4000 to initiate the transfer. They will give him a reference #, which you have to then call in with to complete transfer, or if you are with him you can talk to them immediately, and they will give you a new reg #. They will also mail out the new certificate to you. It's easy peasy, you just can't do it out of there regular bus. hours.

If both the buyer and seller are present during the call, the entire transaction can be completed in one step.If not ,either the buyer or the seller can call and initiate the transfer. They will be provided with a reference number to pass on to the other party,so that they can call in and complete the transfer. It is easiest if you have the registration certificate present,so that you can provide the registration number of the firearm, and you don't have to go over all the firearm details on the phone.

Transfer of firearm
They are going to ask you to confirm the barrel length of the firearm.
Use a cleaning rod to the breech block/bolt face and measure length to the muzzle carefully.
Having the information before you call will make this step easier.
It is a cinch to do the transfer of a non-restricted firearm with both of you on the phone, but not much harder with the seller calling it in and getting a reference number for the buyer to call in later.

I buy /sell firearms all the time on various sites, I hear the " have the barrel length" in the message when I call, but have yet to be asked it.
I normally beat them to all their questions and answer in a solid flow of info . Poof ...done...easy.

I have bought and sold a great many firearms, and I have never been asked the barrel length.I have always been asked the registration number, and usually the make and model.

I've been asked about barrel length about 50% of the time.

I've been asked several times as well, and thye have the info right in front of them if you give them the serial number.
Calibre change is another one tha puzzles me - what difference does it make!
I could never figure it out , myself.....

Even more evidence of the systems inconsistency. Some people are never asked the barrel length, and some people are asked sometimes.Either they need to cinfirm the barrel length or they don't,they shouldn't be asking sometimes and not others.
